David Pogue
David Pogue is the personal-technology columnist for the New York Times. Each week, he contributes a print column, an online column and an online video. His daily blog, "Pogue's Posts," is the Times's most popular blog. David is also an Emmy award-winning tech correspondent for CBS News, a frequent guest on NPR's "Morning Edition," and a regular on CNBC. With over 3 million books in print, David is one of the world's bestselling how-to authors. He wrote or co-wrote seven books in the "for Dummies" series (including Macs, Magic, Opera, and Classical Music); in 1999, he launched his own series of complete, funny computer books called the Missing Manual series, which now includes 60 titles. David graduated summa cum laude from Yale in 1985, with distinction in Music, and he spent ten years conducting and arranging Broadway musicals in New York. He's been profiled on both "48 Hours" and "60 Minutes." In 2007, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in music from the Shenandoah Conservatory.

As a journalist on the cutting edge of personal technology, David Pogue of the New York Times displays, discusses, and demonstrates the five technological advances--out of the hundreds introduced each year--that will have the most impact on the audience in the next few years. Which five? They're constantly evolving, of course. But in recent versions of this talk, David has featured Voice Over IP (free phone calls over the Internet), the online video revolution (like YouTube), radio iPod tags, personal videoconferencing, HDTV, and other goodies.

Chris Lehmann
Chris is the founding principal of the Science Leadership Academy, a progressive science and technology high school in Philadelphia, PA. In 2006, the National School Board Association named Chris one of "20 to Watch" among American administrators. In 2001, Chris was honored by MOUSE as a Champion of Technology and Education for his work on building the portal at the Beacon School. Chris has spoken at educational technology conferences all over the world, including the Building Learning Communities conference, the 2007 National Educational Computing Conference, the Philadelphia Area Educational Technology Conference, the 2006 K12-Online Conference, the International Conference on Technology and Education and at LinuxWorld, and he has worked with schools and districts in the U.S. and England as a consultant. Chris received his B.A. in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania and his M.A. in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Chris is the author of the education blog Practical Theory.

John Kuglin
John is currently Chief Information Officer for the Eagle County School District in Vail, Colorado, and is also an internationally recognized consultant and keynote speaker. Prior to this position, he served as Vice President of Educational Programs for Comchoice Inc. John directed the company's effort to position DVD technologies into the K-16 and corporate classroom environments. One of their best-known works is the Educationally Enhanced DVD version of Super Size Me. Prior to Comchoice, John retired as the Associate Dean for Continuing Education at the University of Montana, and served as Executive Director for a NASA appropriated multi-million dollar environmental studies project. During his career, John was featured on CNN for his innovative uses of technology in his classroom. USA Today selected him as one of ten teachers nationwide to be named as a 'Power Teacher'. He was named one of the Top 25 Education Technology Advocates in the United States by District Administrator magazine. He also co-wrote and served as the host for a ten part technology series on The Learning Channel called 'Best Seat in the Class', as well as numerous other nationally televised teacher in-service programs.

S.W.I.M. - Space, Web, Infrastructure, and Media - all the elements for building a 21ST Century Learning environment! This presentation discusses the latest technological developments in each of these critical areas. Learn to combine seemingly unrelated areas in creative ways to stimulate today's digital natives. John Kuglin uses his 30+ years of diverse experience in K-12 classrooms, higher education, and corporate America to share successful technology leadership strategies while creating a new understanding for 21st century teaching and learning. Additionally, his experience included working as part of a team at the University of Montana and NASA. This team's lead scientist was part of the IPCC which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with Al Gore. This is an unusual speaker background and presentation helping technology leaders to chart the course for the challenges ahead.
