Association of Computer Professionals in Education
By Terry Hippenhammer
Welcome to ACPE 2008! In creating this conference, the ACPE Board has committed itself to attracting high quality keynote speakers who make us think, a wide range of current topics for sessions with district presenters, and a variety of fun activities that encourage networking among your colleagues here in the Northwest.
ACPE has served the K-12 educational community since 1965 by providing a forum for technology professionals to share knowledge on current and emerging trends and technologies and their potential impact on network and computer services in education. This purpose has become even more important as technology has become ubiquitous throughout the learning and business processes of doing school. For this reason, ACPE calls all K-12 technologists to come meet at the Resort at the Mountain from April 30–May 2 to learn from one another and to encourage appropriate use of information technology for the improvement of education.
Join us as we absorb knowledge and interact with featured speakers including David Pogue, New York Times columnist, who will discuss technologies to watch for education and John Kuglin, CIO of Eagle County School District in Colorado, who will challenge us as leaders during a time of needed change for 21st Century learning.
As usual there are many activities to improve your networking with colleagues. This includes walking/geocaching in the beautiful mountains surrounding the resort, croquet, and golf. These activities occur on Wednesday and will be immediately followed by carefully selected pre-conference sessions and vendor hospitality night. You won't want to miss this, so plan to arrive in time for Wednesday events.
I look forward to seeing you this year as "…IT Happens at ACPE!"
